ALPHA MALE: Pajamas + What Else to Wear Under the Sheets

Button-up your nighttime look with pajamas. Your partner will thank you.
While our Alpha Male bedroom tips typically revolve around sinking putts and scoring hat tricks, our approach to bedroom style this week will focus on the various nighttime clothing options available to men.  Let’s face it, men love a woman in sexy nighttime apparel or lingerie... and women often spend a lot of money to look good at night.  Meanwhile, most men probably haven’t spent an hour’s salary on nighttime apparel.  In fact, bed time is often when the old collegiate sweats come out and dreams are relived.  Our goal this week is to discuss the various men’s clothing options available for bed and to help shine some style light to make the women sharing the sheets happy.

Most guys wear one of four things to bed; only underwear, your birthday suit, sweats, or pajamas.  Starting with the guys that wear just underwear (and possible a t-shirt) to bed, it is important to rotate the tires before bed.  This means taking off the dirty t-shirt and underwear you sweat in over the course of the day, and putting on something clean for bed.  Women will not find the underwear you lived in all day sexy, nor will they enjoy the stench that comes with clothes worn all day.

If you’re a bachelor sleeping by yourself each night, sleeping in the nude is acceptable.  Unfortunately, for the rest of us, nude nights arent always celebrated.  If you’re used to sleeping in the nude, but are now forced into a shared bed or more public situation, we recommend some very light pajamas.  Try a super soft silk or even a cotton modal.  These types of materials will provide you with the same feeling as being bare to the sheets, but will also show that you’re a gentleman to the woman on the other side of the bed.

As to sweats, leave the old high school and college pieces at home and get something more sophisticated and comfortable.  Try “Naturally Yours” by Derek Rose.  You’ll feel like butter when wearing them, but will also look cool both in bed and casually around town.

Finally, pajamas are as in now as ever.  People are starting to realize the benefits to having a separate change for the night.  Make sure you get something that is cool and comfortable.  The long button down sets as worn by your grandfather are dated.   Clean, simple and relevant selections will make sure that you look cool for bed… and put yourself in the position to sink the putt.
