Anthony Sanders: 20 Who Made a Difference in 2020

It was a year in which many small businesses had to pivot during the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2019, Anthony Sanders was poised to breakout, with his line of custom bow ties with Be Woke Enterprises and Awoken Apparel.

Then the pandemic hit — and for many, innovation was the name of the game.

Sanders responded, expanding the product line to everything from new fashion products to custom-made masks and scarves in response to the pandemic.

“We've expanded our product line which now includes ties, belts and we actually have a ladies line which is named after my wife -- the "B" line for ladies, scarves and bags, and we're just doing a little bit everything,” said Sanders.

Then came the second wave — and Sanders imparted what he has learned with others.

I’d recommend any business to complete an ongoing SWOT analysis of their business as we continue with the pandemic with the emphasis/evaluation on how their business relates to the virus. Businesses should ask some probing questions like: How can you strengthen your business during the next phase?

“Can you expand/decrease your products/services? Can you use this time to rebrand your business? How can you leverage your weaknesses? Perhaps you are a small company who can partner with another company to scale in resources, to help keep your costs down or combine services to generate new revenue,” he said.

“An old adage is perfect for the first two steps, which says always build on your strengths & work on your weaknesses,” he said.

Sanders embarks the hallmarks of a true leader — able to respond in crisis, and willing to lift others up to make everyone better.
