Beauty and the Bath of Wickford, RI, is a cheerful emporium that will help you get your spring spa on. Proprietress Lori Lyons has been the chatelaine of this lovely watercolor shop for over 17 years, and has managed to edit her wares to mostly American made and green bath and beauty products, some made right here in the Ocean State! Lori has also made it her mission to provide the perfect pampering products for each of her devoted customers, and is something of a “guru”, knowing which lush bath salts will soothe a new mom, or which hand balm will ease a customer's garden-weary hands.

“If a woman doesn't look after herself, how can she look after anyone else?” asks Lori, who selects the shop's wares for decorative value as well as usefulness. Most everything is packaged with pretty florals or graphics and no one walks out without their purchase wrapped in colorful ribbons and tissue papers; like a present to oneself!

Tucked into one of pretty Wickford's oldest shopping blocks, Beauty and the Bath is an uplifting shopping experience - the washed wooden floors and delightful fragrances stir the senses while you select those niche bath and spa products for your at-home indulgences. Choose from the Thymes collection of bubble baths in scents like Agave Nectar and Eucalyptus. Sample treatment-oriented formulas in the Lollia line of shea butters where one whiff of “Calm” or “Relax” will find you rushing home to light a candle, pour a glass of wine, and fill the tub. A woman knows what she needs but Lori will also make up special bundles of products for bewildered male shoppers who want to make a hit but don't know what will mark their woman’s heart.

Even though Beauty and the Bath is chock full of sweet smelling bath salts, lotions, and unguents, Lori never rests of her laurels as she constantly trawls through catalogs and attends gift shows, looking for the perfect pampering treatments and potions for her dedicated clientele. Her latest passion is the fragrant allure of the ubiquitous bar of soap, all carefully made so that every bath splash unfurls bouquets of enchanting honeysuckle, heliotrope, or rose. A reminder that if one has a simple bathtub with running water, one has the makings of a spa experience with only an inexpensive and aromatic bar of soap!

Beauty and the Bath is one of the last RI purveyors of Crabtree and Evelyn’s upscale line. Purchase a box of lavender drawer liners for your lingerie to keep the sensory experience going in the boudoir. For your dressing table, Lori makes sure there are plenty of lip glosses, powders, bronzers, and cute cosmetic bags to put it all in. And when you’ve finally exited that bath, you can slip into one of Beauty and the Bath’s sweet sunny pajama sets from Pine Cone Hill, made with natural bamboo and cooling cottons.
