The LOOK: The Latest Hair Trends from LA

He was the lead hair stylist on Sex and the City 2, he made Anne Hathaway fabulous on film, and now he's GoLocalProv's weekly style expert. Frank Barbosa, the Newport-based celebrity stylist, brings red carpet perspective to hair, makeup, and overall style.

I'm just back from the Isse Hair Trend Show, a high-profile show in Long Beach, CA. So while all my New England friends in fashion where settling in for yet another winter blast, I was having a blast - scouting and teaching new trends in hair fashion.

My favorite finds? Alfaparf Milano's Semi di Lino Diamante, a luxury line of hair care and styling products that combine genuine diamond powder with shine-powered linseed extract for true dazzle and bling.

I also am back with the three biggest trends I saw. And now you'll know as well.

One. Long Hair

Again, the long look was all the rage, and fabulous extensions are at the top of the A-list.

Two. Hair pieces

Ponys, buns, wiglets... oh my! I felt like I was going through my grandmother's closets again! They're back, they're hot, and check them out.

Three. Hot tools

Irons, irons, irons... every shape and size. Keep your eye out for more hot tools to come this year.

Now it's off to work on a movie!

From Sex and the City 2 to Rachel Getting Married, from The Sorcerer's Apprentice to Bride Wars, Frank Barbosa has styled some of the biggest celebrities in film, TV, and theater. He's been in the industry for 17 years, moving from hip neighborhoods in Chicago, to Boston's Newbury St, to Bellevue Avenue in Newport. He maintains that his real passion, though, is being behind a salon chair.
