1st Annual Central Falls Job Fair Set For Wednesday, September 16

The City of Central Falls has teamed up with the Business workforce Center at the RI Department of Labor and Training  as well as the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island to host the first annual job fair from 9 a.m. to noon. on Wednesday, September 16 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 20 Claremont Street in Central Falls.

“I’m excited to take this hands-on approach to improve the unemployment rate in Central Falls, which remains higher than other communities in the state. We are expecting a large number of job-seekers to walk away with a job at one of the great companies that will be at the event. I’d like to thank Councilor Carlene Fonseca, who has been a driving force behind this event, and I can’t say enough about DLT and their Business Workforce Center team who brought the fair together," said Mayor James Diossa.

The job fair will host 40 employers that are looking to fill a variety of vacancies. The event is free and open to the public.

“I’m very excited to host our First Annual Job Fair in the City of Central Falls. To drive economic development, one of our goals in the city is to lower our unemployment rate and we hope that by connecting Rhode Island businesses with a large, diverse pool of job-seekers in the city, we can help close the employment gap. The city partnered with ten local organizations to provide translators for the event and promote the fair to residents. Moving forward, the city plans to sustain our partnership with DLT to host a job fair in the city annually, maybe even biannually," said Councilor Carlene Fonseca.

Those that plan on attending should bring a copy of their résumé  and dress appropriately for an on-site interview.
