Brown’s Paxson is Highest-Paid College President in RI

Brown University’s Christina Paxson is the highest-paid college president in Rhode Island. Her total compensation exceeds $1,215,000 according to the annual study by the Chronicle of Higher Education.

The study released on Wednesday tracks the data through 2019.

Second-ranked in the Chronicle's ranking is retired Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley at $896,093.

Johnson & Wales Chancellor Minnie L. Runey received $650,902.

 

Other Notable Rhode Island Compensation Packages

Recently departed RISD president Rosanne Somerson received $600,908 in total compensation.

Also listed and recently exited was David M. Dooley of the University of Rhode Island who received $461,162.

Roger Williams University’s President Ioannis N. Miaoulis received $230,194 for a portion of his first year in Bristol.

The Chronicle’s executive-compensation package includes the latest data on more than 1,700 chief executives at more than 600 private colleges from 2008 to 2019 and nearly 290 public universities and systems from 2010 to 2020.
