Cooley’s East Greenwich Home Sells for Less Than Asking Price

Many times, celebrities' homes fetch a premium, but not this time.

GoLocal uncovered last month that now-former Providence College men’s basketball coach Ed Cooley was getting ready to place his East Greenwich home on the market weeks before he had signed with Georgetown University. 

The asking price in March was $1.9 million.

In a market with little inventory, according to multiple realtors, the home was expected to beat the asking price.

But the Cooley-factor had no impact on the selling price.

This week, Cooley’s sold, according to MLS.

The final sale price is $1,885,000 — just under the asking price.

No word if a Georgetown grad bought the home.

 

History

The home is located on Lenihan Lane in the Woods neighborhood of EG.

It is assessed by the town for $1,178,000 for the four-bedroom house.

Published reports say that fire officials responded to a fire at Cooley's home Tuesday night.  They say the blaze was in a second floor bathroom and left both smoke and water damage to the house.
