The Federal Hill Commerce Association issued the following:

In 2015, when the meters were being planned opposition began to organize. “Placing parking meters on Federal HIll is anti-business, anti-consumer and anti-residential. I will not support the installation of the meters and I urge everyone who lives or does business in the area to please let the City know their feelings,” said John Lombardi, the former City Council President and Interim Acting Mayor in a Facebook post that he reaffirmed to GoLocalProv.
Small business owners have been trying to fight against the meters since.
"It has effected my lunch business by 35%. In December, the city lifted all paid parking meters to 'stimulate the economy' so what make them think the meters don't effect the other 11 months?" said Gianfranco Marrocco, a leading restaurant owner on Federal Hill. "How much "net" revenue have they generated? And why aren't they implemented equally? Broadway, Hope St., Broad St., Wickenden St., Elmwood, Cranston St, Charles St..."
