Kiel James Patrick Opens Flagship Store on Historic Bowen’s Wharf in Newport
This is the first foray into traditional retail for the company that has made its name by being among the first companies to translate the concept of a lifestyle brand onto social media—appealing to a new generation of shoppers. The brand has more than a half-a-million Instagram followers. The company and the founder has been featured in The New York Times and Town & Country.

Social media is a huge part of what we do, but we also create genuine American-made products that reflect a heritage of craftsmanship going back three centuries in New England," said Kiel James Patrick. "You’re going to be able to see and feel that heritage in the store in a way our customer sometimes misses when they shop online."
With the new store, Kiel James Patrick will offer shoppers of the lifestyle brand an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the American-made products and heritage that have made the company famous, with the line carried in stores in over 20 countries worldwide.
Expanded Offerings
Some of the highlights of the flagship store include colorful Victorian style beach cabana dressing rooms, nautical flags on the exterior arbor running the length of the store and a brass golden retriever modeled after founders Kiel James Patrick and his wife Sarah Vickers’ dog Bennie.
“We are an American brand, but we are Rhode Island founded. We are so excited to open our first store in Newport, and Bowen’s Wharf is the perfect place for this next chapter in our story,” said Patrick.
The 855 square foot space, formerly home to The Narragansett, has been renovated to reflect the brand's take on classic all-American style.
Kiel James Patrick started in 2008 with a single sewing machine and a vision of creating a lifestyle brand that spoke to the classic style of coastal New England.

Pierre Cardin: 70 Years of Innovation

This exhibit on the second-floor gallery at Rosecliff features 42 original pieces from Cardin's private archives that document and celebrate his career from the 1950s through his 2016 spring/summer collection. Included will be his most memorable designs, including 1960s space-age looks from the Cosmocorps collection, unisex jumpsuits created for the 1972 Olympics, and the technologically advanced Cardine dress, made of thermo-formed fabric, that was worn by Lauren Bacall in 1968.
Fort Adams, Newport
An exciting new regatta for International Rule sailing yachts including 2.4mR, 6mR, 8mR and 12mRs. Three days of racing run in conjunction with the New York Yacht Club’s Annual Regatta. Sail Newport will provide dockage for all the boats at their Fort Adams facility, enabling both sailors and spectators to walk the docks and appreciate the formula designs from vintage through more modern boats up close.
