Margie O’Brien Takes State House Slot, Chantee Lans Leaves WPRI for Boston

Margie O'Brien who has been overseeing the "A Lively Experiment" at Rhode Island PBS is off to take the State House News position previously held by the late Dave Barber.

And, Chantee Lans is leaving WPRI for a freelance news position with WBZ in Boston, according to New England One.

O'Brien posted to Facebook, "I didn't intend to leave you in suspense. It has been a busy, exciting weekend. So here it is - my new gig. I will be the Host/Program Manager of Capitol TV at the Rhode Island State House. Stay tuned for an interesting 2016 Legislative Session. O'Brien served many role at PBS including, Host and Producer of RI Classroom - "a half hour program showcasing some of the most motivating and inspiring teachers, administrators and programs in the state education system."

Prior to her tenure at public television, she has been a reporter in Boston at FOX25 for three years and five years at WJAR in Providence.

Lans Goes to Boston

Lans, had a wide ranging news career at WPRI covering a number of high profile crime stories. According to New England One, "Prior to joining WPRI, Chanteé was a general assignment reporter at WFMY-TV CBS 2 in Greensboro, NC. Before that, she was a freelance reporter at at Cablevision's News 12 Long Island. She's also been a reporter and producer at WAPT-TV ABC 16 in Jackson, MS; and a national desk broadcast associate for CBS News in New York." She is active in the Society of Black Journalists.
