Minority Contractors Question Being Blocked From I-195 Development

Black and minority contractors have voiced concerns about existing exclusionary practices that would prevent them from participating in the project to be developed by PPC Land Ventures. One of the issues that is among their concerns is the purchase and sale agreement signed by  I-195 commissioner reportedly includes a project labor agreement. 

Their concerns were heard at a breakfast meeting held by the Rhode Island Black Business Association on Saturday, December 6.

“The strategy meeting on Saturday is the start of a new day. RIBBA is putting together a team of professionals, business experts and local contractors committed to full enforcement of the MBE 10% set aside within this project to be developed by PPC Land Ventures," said Lisa Ranglin, the President of RIBBA.

The Rhode Island Black Business Association deplores the systematic exclusion that has taken place over the years, keeping  black contractors away from major construction projects in Rhode Island.
