NEW: ABC 6 Names New General Manager

Rhode Island TV news station WLNE/ABC6 has named Chris Tzianabos as the new Vice President and General Manager, effective on May 1.

“Chris has a long employment history in New England and earned the respect of the business community during his long tenure in the Boston market,” said Citadel Communications LLC. President and COO Ray Cole. “He’s uniquely qualified to re-position WLNE/ABC6 in a way that better serves Providence and all of Rhode Island.”

Citadel is expected to take control of WLNE/ABC6 in the summer, pending approval from the FCC on the license transfer from Global Broadcasting.

In his career, Mr. Tzianabos has served as Vice President and General Sales Manager of WFXT, Local Sales Manager for WXFT, National Sales Manager for WHDH, and Local Sales Manager for the New England Sports Network.
