New GM Takes Over At Channel 10

Channel 10 has named a new Vice President & General Manager. Vic Vetters has been tapped to take over for long time GM Lisa Churchville who retired at the end of June. Churchville's departure marks the last significant tie to the Outlet/NBC WJAR which once dominated the market.

Vetters comes from running a cluster of stations owned by Smith Media in both Burlington, Vermont and Utica, New York.

Media General owns WJAR and is primarily a newspaper group whose stock has been pounded recently. The stock (MEG) which had a 52-week high in excess of $10 per share is now trading at less than $2 a share ($1.93 on 9-13).

In addition to running TV stations Vetters is also a practicing attorney and had also worked as an anchor/reporter earlier in his career. 

According to his bio, "he earned his bachelor’s degree in History from Hamilton College and received a master’s in broadcast journalism from Syracuse. In addition, he was awarded a law degree with honors from Albany Law School. Vic has been a member of the New York State Bar since 1995."
