NEW: URI Hosting Jobs Events

A slump in the economy has not stopped employers from hiring students and alumni at the University of Rhode Island (URI). A variety of events to recruit talented students for internships, graduate schools, and job positions are being held by by URI Career Services on URI’s Kingston campus. The schedule hosts events from October 4 to November 16 where students and alumni have the opportunity to meet with graduate schools, internships, and employers.

Recruitment and career events include a Graduate School Fair (Oct 4), Engineering and Technology Job Fair (Oct 19), the annual Fall Internship and Job Fair (Nov 8), and URI Career Services and the College of Nursing will sponsor a Nursing Job Fair (Nov 14).

Additional opportunities include a Pharmacy Interview Day, an Accounting Night, an online “Tell Me About Yourself” video contest sponsored by Walgreens, and an “Intern, Work and Volunteer Abroad” Networking Luncheon. In addition, employers may set up one-on-one campus interviews at the Career Services office.

Fall career events will end Nov. 16 with a Power Networking presentation sponsored by Amica Mutual Insurance Co., on the concept of “Who knows you?” Gail Alofsin, a URI Communication Studies faculty member and President of Authentic Measurable Performance, will facilitate the event.
