A minority partner in Wes’ Rib House in Providence announced on Wednesday that his partners in the business — Crisp Restaurant Group — are selling.

In January 2024, GoLocal was the first to report that the long-time Olneyville BBQ institution, located at Dike Street since 1983, was finally reopening after a long hiatus for renovations

Now, its future is uncertain, according to minority partner Aaron Jaehnig.

On Wednesday, Jaehnig — who ran “The Boiler Room,” the music venue at Wes’ Rib House — addressed the development.

“After accepting both my money and 25 years of experience playing, booking, promoting and curating live entertainment and instantly developing a dedicated music community for Wes’ and the Boiler Room, after just seven months, my partners have decided to sell,” said Jaehnig.

Crisp Restaurant Group, the partners referenced by Jaehnig, did not respond to questions at time of publication.

“I have been tirelessly trying to find a way to guarantee the continued existence of Wes’ and The Boiler Room as they currently operate, but do not feel confident it is possible,” said Jaehnig. “There is a chance that current operations will be disrupted as soon as Labor Day weekend and it’s not fair to the bands, fans, and staff who largely and effortlessly slid over from Dusk when they had to close their doors, to go any further without saying anything.”

GoLocal first reported the closure of the popular Harris Avenue music venue in December 2023.

“What we did so well and so fast upstairs at Wes’ would not have been possible without the Dusk staff and community and to you all I apologize for not being able to create a more permanant new home,” said Jaehnig.

Bands and musicians who had been booked for performances for “anything that may have to move or cannot go on as planned at Wes’” can reach out to him on Facebook.
