BankNewport announced that Shawn Duarte has been named vice president, retail training manager. In his role, his team is responsible to ensure the flawless delivery of our customer service standards and employee development through new hire training, relationship banker development, and the Retail Development Management Program. Duarte previously served as assistant vice president, retail training manager for the Bank.
Duarte holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Fisher College. He resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
BankNewport is pleased to announce that Carlos Cabral has been named vice president, branch manager for the Bank’s new Lincoln branch at 3 Wake Robin Road (Wake Robin Square) scheduled to open in July 2023. In his role, he will be responsible for branch operations, customer service, and team development.
Cabral joined BankNewport in 2018 and has served in various positions, most recently as assistant branch manager of the Bank’s Johnston branch.
He completed the Certified Financial Planning program at Bryant University in Smithfield, the Management Development Program with American Bankers Association, and holds Accident and Health Insurance Licenses in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He has also earned his Series 6 and 63 Investment Licenses.
Cabral is an active volunteer with the Northern Rhode Island Boys & Girls Club, where he coaches in the youth football program.

Shannahan's career began as a Loan Processor at Mortgage World, where he gained comprehensive knowledge of the mortgage process. His dedication and analytical skills led to his promotion to Operations Manager, providing him with a deeper understanding of underwriting and file preparation.
In February 2016, Shannahan joined Bank of America as a producing Sales Manager, mentoring loan officers and building his own referral business. His commitment to educating and guiding first-time homebuyers earned him recognition as a Top 20 Purchase Loan Officer in Massachusetts by United Wholesale Mortgage in 2018, and as a Top Mortgage Professional by Boston Magazine in 2022.
With a desire to further his career, Shannahan spent three successful years as a full-time Loan Officer at Onto Mortgage before making the strategic move to Province Mortgage Associates. His decision was driven by the company's values of teamwork, exceptional service, and creating a 5-star experience for clients.

Born in Kingston, NY, and raised in Holliston, MA, Shannahan attended Holliston High School, and later furthered his education at UMASS Amherst, earning a BA in Economics with a minor in History. Outside of work, Shannahan enjoys spending time with his wife Alyssa and their three children, Effie, Julia, and Jack. They divide their time between their residences in Hopedale, MA, and Groton, CT.
