Save The Bay Appoints Interim Executive Director

Save The Bay’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Topher Hamblett to the position of interim executive director following the departure of 15-year executive director Jonathan Stone. Hamblett is currently Save The Bay’s director of advocacy and has been employed by the organization for 30 years.

“Topher’s tenure has given him a comprehensive understanding of all areas of the organization,” said Search Committee Co-Chair and Board Member Robin Boss. “This experience, paired with his extensive understanding of Save The Bay’s advocacy work, perfectly equip him to take on the interim executive director role.”

“The identification of Save The Bay’s next executive director is a serious responsibility,” added George Shuster, Search Committee Co-Chair and Board Member. “All members of the Board and Committee are grateful to Topher for taking the helm as we continue the search for the next leader to guide the organization toward its vision of a fully fishable, swimmable, healthy Narragansett Bay, accessible to all.”

“I have always been honored to be a part of Save The Bay and its work to protect and improve Narragansett Bay,” said Hamblett.

“I’m thrilled to support the organization in the capacity of interim executive director during this time of transition.”

Hamblett’s appointment will begin on July 1, 2023, and will continue until a permanent executive director is named.

Save The Bay's executive director job posting is still open and can be viewed on the organization's website at savebay.org/job-opening-executive-director.

DarrowEverett Hires Pia Hallidri As Its First-Ever CEO

DarrowEverett LLP, a full-service business law firm with offices in seven states, has hired Pia Hallidri as its first-ever CEO, its latest move in a plan to accelerate firm growth.

Hallidri has more than two decades of C-suite experience, having served in roles overseeing data, finance and operations for a variety of businesses, and she has served as a consultant to DarrowEverett for the past four years. She has seen the firm nearly double in size since 2020, as the needs of its nationwide client base have increased significantly. As she focuses on overseeing the growth and administration of the firm, its legal practitioners will have the fullest capacity to provide clients with excellence in practice.

“We say all the time that we’re a business that happens to be a law firm, and taking this step is further affirmation of practicing what we preach,” said DarrowEverett Chief Administrative Officer and Partner Jon Restivo. “Pia already knows our work intimately having spent years in the trenches while we worked through the challenges that came along with COVID and the firm’s rapid growth, among others. Having her acumen, abilities and passion dedicated to DE full-time is a huge win for our team.”

DarrowEverett’s core practice groups include corporate and business transactions, commercial real estate, and litigation, but it has nearly 20 practice groups with which it serves clients. Over the past two years, the firm has added offices in Charleston, S.C., and Nashville, Tenn., and is eyeing further expansion in key markets throughout the country. Most recently, DarrowEverett acquired the team of Massachusetts-based Rampart Law Group to enhance its offerings in renewable energy, private wealth services and tax matters.

"I know this can continue to be an amazing growth story,” Hallidri said. “I'm excited to be an instrumental player in that with a terrific leadership team and administrative staff."
