Providence Ranks Among Worst in Job Creation

The Providence metro area has been ranked amongst the worst places for job creation in the United States in 2014, according to a recent survey done by Gallup. 

Gallup has given Providence a job index score of 23 while New York-New Jersey ranks as the worst with a job index score of 20. 

Salt Lake City, Utah and Austin-round Rock, Texas rank the highest with job index scores of 37.

The job index scores are based on the percentage of workers in the area who say that their company is hiring workers and expanding the size of it's workforce. Gallup took those numbers and then subtracted the percentage of workers who said that their company is letting workers go and reducing the size of their workforce.
