Providence Warwick CVB Announces New Board Officers

Kimberly Greene will serve as PWCVB chairperson.
The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) announced its board officers for a two-year term that started in July of 2018.

“We are grateful to our board of directors, who volunteer their time to work with us in developing and implementing strategies that enable the tourism community to grow and prosper. Strong hotel development in Providence and Warwick, as well as the recent success of Green Airport, make this a pivotal time in our organization’s history and we are glad to have their acumen and counsel,” said Martha Sheridan, PWCVB president, and CEO.

Kimberly Greene, area general manager of TPG Hotels and Resorts, will serve as PWCVB chairperson. Greene is the primary strategic business leader for the Renaissance Providence and responsible for the leadership and management of the Hilton Providence and Hilton Garden Inn Providence.  She has more than 25 years of experience in hospitality management and is a graduate of Washington State University.

Eric Weiner, owner of Food Trucks In, is the new PWCVB vice chairperson.  Weiner, an entrepreneur, founded his website FoodTrucksIn.com in 2015. It is now comprehensive food truck search engine with more than 6,500 food trucks, trailers, carts, and stands in more than 1,500 cities nationwide.  As a sophomore at Johnson & Wales University, Weiner founded All Occasion Transportation, which he built into an extremely successful business and sold twenty years later in 2010.

Farouk Rajab, general manager of the Providence Marriott Downtown, has been elected secretary.  In his role with the Marriott, Rajab has been a strategic catalyst in boosting revenue growth and enhancing guest experiences via expert management and responsive service.  He serves on numerous other boards, including the Rhode Island Hospitality Association and the Providence Tourism Council.  He is a graduate of Arab College in Amman, Jordan.

John Palumbo, of Rhode Island Monthly Communications, has been named treasurer.  Palumbo has spent more than 30 years in the marketing and communications field.  As owner, president and publisher at Rhode Island Monthly Communications, he helms a multi-platform provider of lifestyle information for Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Palumbo serves on several other boards, including Trinity Repertory Company and the Roger Williams Park Zoo.

The board also reappointed two directors at large: Karen Jedson, director of tourism, culture and development for the City of Warwick; and Jeffrey Hirsh, owner of the Lobster Pot.
