Providence Warwick CVB Honors Local Leaders, Launches Speaker Directory

Representative K. Joseph Shekarchi
The Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) honored local leaders who recommended the state for a meeting, convention or sporting event and asked for more public participation by rolling out its new Speaker Directory program.

“The meetings and convention industry acts as a catalyst for further economic growth and corporate investment. Meetings booked in Providence and Warwick provide a platform for city and state economic development officials to position Rhode Island as a hub of education and innovation, ripe with opportunity,” said PWCVB Board Chair Kimberly Greene, area general manager of TPG Hotels and Resorts.

The leaders were honored during the Providence CVB’s Ambassador Awards Luncheon.

Online Speaker Directory

The PWCVB also announced the creation of an online Speaker Directory.

The program will pair local academics and industry experts with meeting planners looking for speakers at events being held in Rhode Island.

“The PWCVB envisions this program as being reciprocal. It gives us a new way to add value to having a meeting in Rhode Island and it introduces our local talent to other leaders in their field from around the globe,” said Thomas Riel, PWCVB vice president of sales and services.

Riel called on local leaders to register for the program by visiting here.
