RE/MAX Reports 2.7% Increase in Pending RI Home Sales for Feb.

Pending home sales in New England are up 28.3 percent over February 2013, and 2.7 percent in Rhode Island during the time frame, according to the RE/MAX of New England Housing Report for February 2014.

In Rhode Island, home transactions fell -7.9 percent, while median price dipped slightly at -1.3 percent, while pending sales are up.  

Inventory in every state in the region, except New Hampshire and Vermont, shows a decrease year-over-year. Overall home sales show decreases month-over-month, an expected trend for this time of the year.

Overview for other New England states

  • In Connecticut, the number of total transactions is down -2.9% year-over-year, while the median price rose 2.1%. Pending sales were up 30.1% year-over-year.
  • Massachusetts showed a decrease of -4.4% in total transactions year-over-year. The median price increased 5.6. Pending sales were up 40.4% over February of 2013 – the highest in the region.
  • In New Hampshire, home transactions decreased -6.5% year-over-year, and median price rose 5.6%. Pending sales were up 6.0% year-over-year.
  • Vermont experienced a boost in total transactions, up 18.2%, while median price decreased -6.4% year-over-year. Pending sales were up 12.9% year-over-year.
