RI Business Plan Competition Accepting Applications for 2016 Contest

The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition announced that it is now accepting applications to the 2016 competition. The competition is expected to award nearly $200,000 to winners and finalists in May. 

“As the largest, community supported business plan competition in New England, we encourage people from all walks of life with an innovative business idea to apply. Since the judges will only review applications after the March 28 deadline to apply, applicants should take time to carefully make their case," said Peter Lowy, executive director of the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition. 

Anyone age 18 or older may apply online by clicking here. There is no charge.

From the applications, judges will invite selected applicants to submit complete plans as semi-finalists. Finalists will be drawn from this pool of candidates and meet individually with judges. 

The winners of the event will be announced in May at a public event.  

The Competition 

The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition was established in 2000 and has since been recognized as one of the top 40 business plan competitions in the country. The competition has warded over $18 million in prizes to competitors who develop companies ranging across many industries. 

The competition is free and open to everyone age 18 or over.
