RI Convention Center to Host More Than 3,000 Navy Midshipmen for Army-Navy Game
When Gillette Stadium hosts the 2023 Army-Navy Game on Dec. 9, 2023, the Rhode Island Convention Center will host approximately 3,000 Navy midshipmen overnight, with Providence serving as the de facto headquarters for Navy families and alumni traveling to the area for the game.
U.S. Senator and a graduate of West Point got into the spirit of the rivalry and tweeted:

in 2023. This will mark just 3rd time in 124 yr history of America’s Game that it'll be played outside the Mid-Atlantic. Providence will graciously host 4k Midshipmen (before they lose the big game). #GoArmy #BeatNavy
The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB), the Rhode Island Sports Commission, and RI Commerce will lead the effort to promote the event not only to tourists but also to potential investors in Rhode Island.
“The Army-Navy Game will have effects statewide, especially in places like Newport, where the Naval War College was founded,” said Kristen Adamo, PWCVB president and CEO. “We will be developing a strategic marketing effort to fill hotel rooms and encourage visitors to explore all of Rhode Island.”
The announcement of the Army-Navy game comes after years of collaborative efforts among the Gillette Stadium, the Kraft Group, and state and local officials from both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The Convention Center supplied a detailed plan for housing the midshipmen as part of the bid and hosted a site visit for Navy officials earlier in the year.
