RI DEM to Hold Workshops on Brownfields Grant Application Process

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) will host two informational workshops on the brownfields grant applications process.

“Participants will learn how to apply for federal funding sources and be introduced to free technical assistance services to help prepare a well-conceived application,” said the DEM in their press release.

The first workshop will take place on Thursday, November 15 from 12:45 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the second workshop will take place on Wednesday, December 5 at 8:30 a.m.

Both workshops will be held at DEM Headquarters.

The Workshops

The November 15 workshop is titled “Brownfields Grant Writing Boot Camp sponsored by NJIT. ”

About the workshop, the DEM writes, “this free workshop is open to municipal officials including those in planning, development, public works, utilities, budget/grants, legal, finance and neighborhood development offices, and others interested in applying for USEPA brownfields funding for land redevelopment.  The training will include an overview of the USEPA brownfields grant application process, tips to avoid common proposal pitfalls, strategies to address shortcomings, and an interactive discussion.”

The second workshop on December 5 is titled, “2018 Grant Guidelines for USEPA Assessment Grants, Cleanup Grants, and Brownfield Cleanup Revolving Loan Grants.”

This session is open to those who are interested in applying for the grants.
