RI Lottery Set to Debut Redesigned PowerBall Game on Sunday

Rhode Island Lottery has announced and is set to debut changes to the PowerBall game. The changes are designed to create big jackpots and significant prizes.

Changes include a jump up to $50,000 for the game's prize for matching 4 numbers and the Powerball number, and players will have a chance to multiply most winnings by up to 10 when the jackpot is $150 million or less.

“PowerBall has been revamped several times in its 23-year history to continue to deliver the big jackpots people expect from the game, but also give players the chance to win other significant prizes. Our latest changes are designed to continue that trend and build in several new features," said Rhode Island Lottery Director Gerald Aubin.

Sales in the new look game will begin on Sunday, October 4th and the first drawing will take place on Wednesday, October 7th. There will also be changes to both sets of numbers.

Players will choose their first five numbers from  a set of 69 white balls and their PowerBall from a pool of 26 red balls. PowerBall is hoping that these changes will see an increase in winning any prize and a better chance to win the jackpot.
