One of their companies is Luca + Danni -- the Cranston-based jeweler.

Thursday's announcement by Ross-Simons, which operates under the tagline 'Americas Favorite Jeweler,' is giving $25,000 to both the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island.

Ross-Simons Gives Back

Ross-Simons was founded in 1952 and has grown from a small local retailer to a national and global online and catalog retailer.

"The coronavirus outbreak has taken a tremendous toll on the impoverished and elderly, especially, increasing the burden of finding enough food.  The rapid increase in needs has drained food supplies for the neediest parts of our community, and at the same time strained the resources of the charitable organizations that aim to assist," said the company.

"In March alone the RI Food Bank had an increase in demand of over 300,000 pounds of food. Since the outbreak began, Meals on Wheels of RI has increased its meal delivery services from 1,200 meals per day to over 4,000. Ross-Simons is pleased to assist these two charities in helping to fund their acquisition of more food and the costs of logistics to distribute state-wide," added the company.
