Gilbane Construction Named in Sexual Harassment Complaint Filed Against Several NY Firms
Gilbane is headquartered and was founded in Providence, RI.
One of the workers, Ashley Foster, said in the complaint, “"Every morning I get up and go to work in order to support and provide for myself and my family. I'm not rich or famous. While working for Tradeoff Construction I was constantly subjected to sexual harassment, ranging from demeaning comments to inappropriate propositions for sex. It was common knowledge that in order to secure pay increases, steady work hours and future work, women were expected to sleep with their supervisors."

In addition to the constant verbal harassment, one day a deputy foreman actually texted me an unsolicited picture of his penis. There was no one to turn to for help."
“Sexual harassment in any form is unacceptable. While none of our employees are accused of wrongdoing, this is a serious matter and we are investigating accordingly. The safety and well-being of workers is our top priority,” said a spokesperson for Gilbane.
Attorney Jason Solotaroff of Giskan, Solotaroff & Anderson LLP said, "Ashley Foster's experience is common -- with her workdays consisting of routine and constant offensive comments and gestures along with periodic episodes of even more egregious acts of sexual misconduct and quid pro quo harassment. By speaking out and filing her complaint against not only Tradeoff, her direct employer, but also contractors like Gilbane and developers like Related that control the job sites, Ms. Foster hopes to ensure a safe and dignified work experience for her and the other women employed in construction."
The Complaints
Foster's complaint names as respondents Tradeoff and its affiliated entities as well as Gilbane Building Company and the related companies, the general contractor and developer, respectively, of the Hudson Yards project.
Both Gilbane and the other companies exercised control over employees at Hudson Yards, claims the allegations.
The second complaint was filed on behalf of Tradeoff employee Tierra Williams.

State Representative Teresa Tanzi said she has been the victim of sexual harassment in the RI State House by a fellow male legislator.
Rhode Island State Police and Attorney General Peter Kilmartin are investigating the charges.
The State Police and Kilmartin Released the Following Statement
“Yesterday, Attorney General Peter Kilmartin contacted Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety, regarding allegations of sexual harassment at the Rhode Island State House made by Representative Teresa Tanzi. The two agencies are working together to review the allegations. As is the policy of both the State Police and the Attorney General’s Office, the two agencies are not going to be making further comment with respect to the status of or direction of the inquiry.”

Good Will Hunting, the film that launched Affleck to stardom, was released by Miramax, a company co-founded by Weinstein.
"What I was accused of by a woman was touching her breast while I gave her a hug," Affleck told Colbert. "I don't remember it, but I absolutely apologize for it. I certainly don't think she's lying or making it up.'"
