Solarize Rhode Island Set to Launch in Tiverton and Little Compton Monday

Solarize Rhode Island is set to kick off a second round of pilot programs on Monday, January 26, in Little Compton and Tiverton at 10am. Solarize Rhode Island is a municipal-based program aimed at reducing the costs of installing small-scale solar power. The first round of pilots took place in North Smithfield and was completed in December 2014, with 84 homes and small businesses committing to “go solar”. Solarize Rhode Island is a program designed to encourage the adoption of residential and commercial solar systems through a coordinated education, marketing and outreach effort.

Each town has chosen a solar installer for the program. This launch event will announce the selected installer and formally launch the program in both towns. Solarize Rhode Island is a partnership managed by Commerce RI, the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER), and non-profit marketing firm SmartPower.

Governor Gina M. Raimondo and United States Senator Sheldon Whitehouse be joined by other state and local officials for the launch at Sandywoods Center for the Arts in Tiverton.
