Governor Dan McKee will be joined by state and local officials, including Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza, and the team from High Rock Development, to announce the historic rehabilitation of 111 Westminster – the Superman Building. The event is today at 2 PM at the State House.
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTAs GoLocal reported in August of 2021, the owner of the Superman Building, High Rock Development, LLC is submitting a plan to the RI Commerce Corporation to redevelop the building into 285 apartment units — of which 20% will be for low-income residents.
The total cost of the project is now budgeted for $223 million.
Governor Dan McKee has stated he would be open to demolishing the state’s tallest building, if it is not reused. The iconic building has been vacant for eight years.
The announcement could be coming as early as today.
