SUCCEED WITH STYLE: What’s Your Score?

I bet you didn’t know that you are being scored based on how influential you are online? The social score you are assigned helps determine whether you receive a job, a hotel room upgrade or free samples at the market, according to a recent article in the New York Times

If your influence score is high then you are on track for receiving perks. If it’s low you may get nothing at all. You may even be passed over for that coveted promotion!

Millions of people are using social media and some are becoming very strong influencers. And it’s not about how many follows you have or how many tweets you make. It’s about inspiring people to take action. You don’t need to be famous any more to have influence or affect change. Who knows you could be the Oprah of social media.

Accessible to All

What may be of concern to some is that influence scores will be publicly accessible to everyone. Prospective employers, retail companies and even potential dates will have access to this data.

The scores range from 1 to 100 with an average score in the high teens. A score in the 40s suggests a strong following but one that is niched. A score of 100 means you have exceptional influence, like some of the major celebrities.

Check Your Score

Your score changes constantly depending how active you are. It’s clear that your online presence matters and needs to be consistently and continuously managed. Check out www.klout.com or www.peerindex.net to find out yours.
