On Saturday morning, August 3, at 3 A.M., the New York Times Company confirmed the sale of the Boston Globe, Worcester Telegram, and other New England assets to John Henry in an all-cash, $70 million deal.

Henry bought the Globe individually and outside of the Fenway Sports Group, making this his first effort in the news media business. After making a fortune in investment funds, Henry has built a diverse sports group that includes the Red Sox, Roush Fenway Racing, Liverpool Football Club, and NESN.
