Workshops for Small Business

Starting a business of your own? If you are and wondering where to start the Providence Public Library has created a series of workshops to help you. The free five-part informational workshop series is presented by PPL's and SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Professionals).

The workshops will be held Saturdays beginning October 1 – 29, from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at Providence Public Library, 150 Empire Street, Providence. Space is limited to 25 people. To attend you must register for the workshops.

Members of SCORE will present and discuss the various aspects of planning and owning a business. Library staff will discuss print and electronic resources available at the Library to research your business and marketing plan.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

October 1 -- Administrative & Legal Considerations (Business name, legal structure, licenses & permits, start-up check list (20 items)
October 8 -- Sales & Marketing (Customer considerations, demographics, channels of distribution, features & benefits, advertising, competition, pricing)
October 15 -- Website Development (Domain name, site provider, web site design, search engine optimization)
October 22 -- Financing (Start-up costs, balance sheet, P&L and cash flow)
October 29 -- Writing a Business Plan (Loan requirements, marketing plan, financial plan)
