A new cheese shop is slated to open on the East Side of Providence.

A sign for “East Side Cheese and Provisions” is currently posted at 17 South Angell Street in Wayland Square.

The business, registered with the Secretary of State’s office, currently has a website and instagram page under construction.

It marks the latest establishment in the area focusing on cheese.

The Cheese Shop had been a venerable institution when it was located at 186 Wayland Avenue for years.

La Laiterie and Farmstead had then opened — and closed — in that location.

Latest for Wayland Square

The addition of the new shop will mark the latest business shakeup in the commercial area.

As GoLocal was first to report, Wayland Bakery, an East Side institution since 1928, was closing.

On Waterman Avenue, elected officials are currently working to get a carve-out for a liquor license for a new Greek restaurant.
