Minerva's was located in the Wayland Square area for more than 50 years.

Now, GoLocal can report what will be going into the commercial space on Providence’s East Side.

South Kingstown Mexican restaurant Maiz will be coming north to open its second location on South Angell Street.

The business describes itself as follows:

We are a small, family-owned restaurant located in picturesque South Kingstown, Rhode Island. We pride ourselves in bringing to you traditional Mexican flavors by using the freshest ingredients that we can find.

All of our recipes come from a line of home cooks from Mexico. Everything from the tender chicken Tinga and soft corn tortillas, to the zesty Salsa Verde is made in house, from scratch.

We invite you to savor every bite and experience the rich flavors of Mexico!

According to their social media, Maiz is “hoping to open by the end of the year" in Providence.

Latest for Commercial Area

As GoLocal was also first to report, there have been several recent shakeups in Wayland Square.

Last week, GoLocal reported that “Spice & Tea Merchants” is coming to the area.
