A Weekend for Beer Lovers

Saturday: International Beer Festival
Providence plays host to a true hops-lovers extravaganza on Saturday. The Great International Beer Festival takes over the RI Convention Center all day, with two sessions: 1-4:30pm, or 6:30-10pm. This is BIG: Look for brewers from local faves Newport Storm, Narragansett, and Trinity Beer Company, plus regional favorites such as Long Trail Brewing Co, Samuel Adams, Magic Hat, Berkshire Brewing and Saranac. Ever had Paper City from Holyoke or Blue Hill from Canton? Plus international brews? Now, for hours upon hours, is your chance. And two sweeter words were never spoken about a beer festival: unlimited sampling. Better yet, the proceeds benefit the RI Community Food Bank, Rhode Island Horticultural Society and the Providence Rotary Foundation Charities. Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St, Providence, 274-3234. For more information, go here.
Sunday: Bavarian Bash
Keep it going on Sunday with the Bavarian Bash at Farmstead in Providence's Wayland Square. From 4-6pm, Farmstead is throwing a Germanic good time, with hearty beer, alpine pretzels, sausage and some sudsy education slid right in. It's $60 per person, but Farmstead never disappoints. Farmstead, 186 Wayland Ave, Providence, 274-7177 or go online, here, for more information.
