Wine Dinners at Siena

This is an ongoing food and wine series that is worth catching.

If you have a special occasion coming up and are looking for a great place to celebrate, try the next wine dinner at Siena in East Greenwich. Once you have entered the cozy wine room all you have to do is sit back and relax as executive chef Nate Williams serves you one delicious Tuscan dish after the other, each masterfully paired with wines from the Savory Grape Wine Shop. The menu for the next event has yet to be finalized but if the dishes are as delicious as at the previous dinner, you will not be disappointed. What Nate serves up is nothing short of authentic Tuscan cuisine at its best.

Great tastes, great pairings

The frequent use of oils and vinegars alongside vegetables such as garlic, red peppers and tomatoes, makes Italian dishes notoriously tricky to pair with wine. This is where the experts from the Savory Grape step in. At a recent dinner a beet salad with gorgonzola dressed in a vinaigrette was boldly paired with the 2010 Chateau Lamargue Les Grandes Cabanes, a spicy Rose from France’s Rhone Valley. The main course; veal tenderloin medallions with yellow tomatoes and roasted red peppers were perfectly paired with the 2008 Casanova di Neri Rosso, a delicious soft Sangiovese from Montalcino. Feeling the saliva build up?
