NEW: Blue Cross & Blue Shield of RI Scores High in LGBT Equality

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) scored a 90 out of 100 in the most recently released Corporate Equality Index released by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC).

The report from the HRC evaluates corporations' respect for LGBT on the criteria of workplace nondiscrimination policy, protections for LGBT employees, and the extension of employee health benefits to spouses or domestic partners.

Blue Cross was proud to announce the news on Monday. "Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island values all of our employees and believes in principles of fairness and dignity,” said Vice President and Chief Diversity officer of BCBSRI Visael "Bobby" Rodriguez. “Our inclusive policies and practices enable us to support our LGBT employees and demonstrate that we value them, as we do all of our employees. When our employees feel valued, we are then able to best serve our members and community.”
