Veggie Boxes Bring Farm-Fresh Produce to Your Office

Rhode Island employees have no excuse not to eat their vegetables any more.

They're delivered right to their cubicle.

Veggie Box, an expansion of Farm Fresh RI's wholesale distribution program for businesses, takes advantage of its very successful Market Mobile infrastructure to get healthy, local vegetables delivered to individuals. And at no more convenient location--their places of work.

Fresh veggies, no muss, no fuss

Veggie Box is a weekly subscription to fresh, local produce from RI and MA farms that are delivered directly to workplaces, community centers, schools and daycares around Rhode Island.

Each Veggie Box contains 6-10 items and weighs about 10 pounds. If you're big veggie eaters, this feeds 1-2 people for a week. If your Veggie Box is supplementing your weekly grocery trip, then the Box may feed up to 4-5 people per week.

Like farm-based CSAs, the selection is made for you and pre-packed, but the contents change with the seasons. Farm Fresh tucks in a newsletter with information about what is in the share, plus recipe suggestions. It's a chance to get to know your local veggies, as well as eat better.

What to expect

You can expect your Winter Veggie Boxes to contain a combination of the following items:

    * Apples
    * Beets
    * Cabbage
    * Carrots
    * Cranberries
    * Garlic
    * Kale
    * Onions
    * Parsnips
    * Pea Greens
    * Potatoes
    * Sweet Potatoes
    * Turnips
    * Winter Squash (butternut, acorn, etc)
