First Negative Ad of Campaign Season Launched

More than six months before the general election, the campaign season is already seeing one of its first negative ads.
The state council for the Service Employees International Union yesterday issued an ad targeting Providence mayoral candidate Steve Costantino for proposing cuts in education funding for the city.

So why did he propose cutting $15 MILLION in state aid to PROVIDENCE?” the flyer, which was distributed through e-mail, reads.
One side of the flyer shows Costantino peaking out from behind blue curtains. “Why Steven? Why?” it reads.
Costantino spokeswoman Jennifer Bramley was not available for comment yesterday.
