Here at “5 Live,” we absolutely refuse to pay attention to the calendar. The summer concert season is still going strong and we’ve got your weekend preview below.
Tonight, The Met has Smithfield native Sarah Potenza and her band featuring husband Ian Crossman on Bass. She’s been busy in Nashville honing her chops and hanging out with the likes of John Oates, who recently commented “I first heard Sarah sing at a gig in Chattanooga and she blew the roof off the place… she reminds me of a modern Americana version of Janis Joplin… and like Janis, she really brings it.“ Nuff said. Sarah’s a GoLocal favorite and you're guaranteed to have a good time. Rat Ruckis open at 9PM, tickets are only $10.
Jen Chapin at Sandywoods
Also tonight, Sandywoods hosts a show with Jen Chapin, an NYC based singer-songwriter with pretty good genes. She’s the daughter of Harry Chapin and a strong artist in her own right, known to bring a jazzy edge to her folk songs. Award winning Rhode Island singer-songwriter John Fuzek opens at 8PM. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Sandywoods is a member of the 1 of 52 Hunger Network, a grassroots network of everyday people using their unique talents to help end hunger. Please bring nonperishable food items to the concert if you can.
