Tonight, The Met has Smithfield native Sarah Potenza and her band featuring husband Ian Crossman on Bass. She’s been busy in Nashville honing her chops and hanging out with the likes of John Oates, who recently commented “I first heard Sarah sing at a gig in Chattanooga and she blew the roof off the place… she reminds me of a modern Americana version of Janis Joplin… and like Janis, she really brings it.“ Nuff said. Sarah’s a GoLocal favorite and you're guaranteed to have a good time. Rat Ruckis open at 9PM, tickets are only $10.

Jen Chapin at Sandywoods

Also tonight, Sandywoods hosts a show with Jen Chapin, an NYC based singer-songwriter with pretty good genes. She’s the daughter of Harry Chapin and a strong artist in her own right, known to bring a jazzy edge to her folk songs. Award winning Rhode Island singer-songwriter John Fuzek opens at 8PM. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Sandywoods is a member of the 1 of 52 Hunger Network, a grassroots network of everyday people using their unique talents to help end hunger. Please bring nonperishable food items to the concert if you can.

Celtic Rock Festival in Newport

The Celtic Rock Festival returns to the Newport Yachting Center tomorrow starting at Noon. The day features a great line up of modern Celtic music with several hyper-charged bands including Gaelic Storm, Black 47, Eileen Ivers, Tartan Terrors, Celtica-Pipes Rock!, and The Fighting Jamesons. You can “Pour Your Own Pint,” of Guinness and check out Irish themed vendors, spirited step-dancers, thundering pipe-and-drums, and plenty of good craic. Tickets are still available - $30 in advance, $40 day of show.

Summit Music Festival in Providence

There’s another in a line of free music festivals in Providence tomorrow as the Summit Neighborhood Association presents its annual event at Lippitt Park. This year’s headliners include nationally acclaimed Blues artist Selwyn Birchwood, as well as Red Baraat, described as “Bhangra Funk Dolh 'n Brass from NYC.” It’s a great opportunity to catch these celebrated artists for free on the East Side of Providence. Local support comes from Smith and Weeden, Dr. Jones and the Shiners, Emeline Easton, and Johnny Lingo. The music starts 1PM.

RI R&B Celebration Sunday at the Met

Head back to the Met on Sunday afternoon for the 6th annual Rhode Island Rhythm and Blues Heritage Month Festival.
