Americana/Roots Artist Amy Black Appears at Chan's Saturday Night.
This week we highlight a diverse group of artists appearing in the area. From Classic Rock to Downton Abbey inspired Roots, there’s something for everyone. Read on for the top picks in our weekly column “5 Live Music Musts.”

Amy Black is a rising talent in the Roots/Americana genre. The Boston based artist released her first album of originals, This is Home, in February 2014. Black, who grew up in Alabama and Missouri, is currently working on a Muscle Shoales, AL themed recording of covers and originals.  She’s bringing her band along to Chan’s for a special holiday show tomorrow night. Tickets are $15 for the 8PM gig.  

Felix Cavilliere’s Rascals at Park Theatre

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band The Rascals are known for hits like “Good Lovin,” “Groovin’,” and “It’s a Beautiful Morning.” Leader and songwriter Felix Caviliere brings the band to the Park Theatre tomorrow night for a holiday show where they’ll be joined by the Cranston East High School Chorus. Tickets are still available starting at $35 for the 8PM show.

Sadie and the Hotheads at The Met

Sadie and the Hotheads is a Roots-Rock band fronted by Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern. The band is making its debut US tour and stops by The Met Saturday night. They’ve been well received in the UK - should be a fun night with Lady Grantham. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 day of show, with a "meet and greet" package available for $85. Show is at 8:30PM. Nick Lowe at Narrows Center

The absolute coolest holiday show around comes to the Narrows Center on Wednesday December 17 as Nick Lowe brings his “Quality Holiday Review” to Fall River.  Along for the ride and backing Lowe will be Los Straitjackets, known for their Mexican wrestling masks and jammin’ guitar chops. Lowe is a well-known producer and songwriter having penned hits like “Cruel to be Kind” and “What’s So Funny ‘bout Peace, Love, and Understanding.” The show will sell out so get your tickets now - $50 in advance, $55 day of show.

Funk at The Spot

Two of the best Indie Funk bands out there will be at The Spot in Providence tonight. Get there early and check out the groovin' sounds of Sophistafunk and the New York Funk Exchange.  Mother Ton and Shantyman and The Speakeasies start the ball rolling at 8:30PM. Its 18+ - dance all night for only $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
