With the holiday season upon us, we look inward, at some great local bands who spoil us with their talent on a regular basis. Its bands, books, and beer this weekend on “5 Live Music Musts.”

Season of the Witch

There’s a cool show tonight at the Columbus Theatre in the capital city featuring two witchy area favorites, Vudu Sister and Alec K. Redfearn and the Eyesores. They’ll be performing in support of a book reading with Peter Bebergal, author of Season of the Witch, How the Occult Saved Rock and Roll. The book, just released, is getting great reviews, and both bands are local favorites. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.

Dylan Sevey at The Ocean Mist

Tonight is a great night to head to the Ocean Mist in Matunuck to hear South County rockers Dylan Sevey and the Gentlemen. The boys are playing their 100th show and promise some surprises along with a few special guests. Show is at 9PM, New Jersey’s Cranston Dean Band opens. Tickets are $8 at the door.

Gansett Turns 124

There’s a major bash tomorrow night at The Met as Narragansett Beer celebrates 124 years. The show features a rock and roll lineup with the Pat McGee Band, The ‘Mericans, Runaway Saints and the Sugar Honey Iced Tea performing. Tickets are only $10 for this event and you know what to order at the bar. Show starts at 8PM.

Ugly Sweater Party at the Spot

Another major rock show is happening tonight at The Spot in Providence. Top 5 Fiend presents an Ugly Sweater Party with Northeast Traffic, Milkbread, The Quins, The Dead L.A., Seven Hats Parade & Hwuevo. Its an 18+ show and tickets are only $10 in advance, $12 day of show. And don’t forget to wear your ugliest sweater!

Handel’s Messiah at The Vets

Finally, tomorrow night at The Vets, don’t miss the annual performance of Handel’s Messiah with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and the Providence Singers. It’s a rare chance to hear over 100 voices sing “Hallelujah” and other beloved choruses live. Tickets are still available here ranging from $15 to $125. Concert starts at 7PM.
