5 Live Music Musts: Friday, May 24th

On Friday May 24, the Columbus Theatre has a Bob Dylan birthday tribute. Bob turns 72 today, and is currently preparing to headline the Americanarama tour this summer. Joe Fletcher, Smith and Weeden, and (of course), Dylan Sevey and the Gentlemen appear along with many others. A great night out in the newly renovated Columbus awaits. Note to Dylan fanatics – we revere the time-honored Patrick’s Pub event – but, Things Have Changed and The Times, well, They Are … OK, enough. Here’s a chance to support some rising artists and catch their take on Bob. Doors at 8:00 – only 10 bucks!
Also on Friday, Scituate Rhode Island’s own Bitchin’ Aardvarks host a CD release party at The Met. Ska and punk collide in a high energy performance on their new albumLottery Winner. A bunch of local bands open for this hometown group with big town dreams. Show starts at 8:00 PM.
