David Cassidy Friday
Music fans of a certain generation remember David Cassidy as the heartthrob lead singer from the TV show The Partridge Family. The singer recently announced that he is fighting early stages of dementia, and has decided to end his touring career. That means that tonight’s show at the Greenwich Odeum ends up being his second to last show ever. (He’s scheduled to play his final show Saturday night in NYC.) River Whyless Friday
River Whyless is a promising young indie band from Ashville, NC, with a modern roots sound that really stands out from the pack. The band had a big 2016 with appearances at Newport Folk, and a date on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert. They return to the area Saturday night with a show at the Columbus Theatre. Luke Bryan Saturday
Country Star Luke Bryan arrives at the Dunkin Donuts Center Saturday night on his “Kill the Lights” tour. Bryan has received numerous accolades since breaking onto the scene in 2010, when he was awarded “Top New Artist” as well as “Top New Solo Vocalist” at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Rock at Dusk Saturday
A standout rock show comes to Dusk in Providence Saturday night featuring several acclaimed indie bands. RI’s Andy Lampert, compared favorably to Alex Chilton of Big Star, will be there with his band. Then there’s Leland Sundries, a band who's recent album Music for Outcasts received an A- from music critic Robert Christgau, the “Dean of rock critics." Regina Spektor Monday
Russian born Regina Spektor comes to Lupo's on Monday March 6 for a highly anticipated show. The indie-pop singer-songwriter released her 7th studio album, Remember Us to Life, last September. Spektor frequently contributes songs to TV and movies, most recently an elegant version of George Harrison’s “When My Guitar Gently Weeps” for the animated film Kubo and the Two Strings.
