Autism Speaks To Light Pawtucket River Bridge Blue on April 2nd

The city of Pawtucket along with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation will feature a special lighting of the I-95 Pawtucket River Bridge on Wednesday, April 2 as part of the annual Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue campaign.

April 2 marks the sixth annual United Nations World Autism Awareness Day, when numerous landmarks are lighted blue “to shine a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis,” according to the Autism Speaks website. Among other landmarks newly participating this year will be an evening lighting of New York’s Empire State Building.

The I-95 Pawtucket River Bridge will be lit blue for the occasion. The bridge, reopened in September after an $81 million rebuilding project overseen by RIDOT, is equipped with a color-changing lighting system able to display a wide range of color possibilities, as remotely operated by RIDOT.
