Ballard Park's 6th Annual Illuminated Gardens This Weekend

It's a midwinter treat before the buds emerge.

Friends of Ballard Park will host its 6th Annual Illuminated Garden on Saturday, February 26th from 6-9pm. The free event features thousands of lights displayed on the trees and unique features of the park's three-acre quarry meadow which include a one-acre vernal pond, groves of trees and a 30-foot rock wall (think light projections). It's a unique event in Rhode Island.

Young designers at work

Students from St. Michael’s Country Day School, Portsmouth Middle School, Portsmouth High School and the Rhode Island School of Design are expected to create exhibits for the free tour along with children from the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and Boys & Girls Club of Newport County.
