Beauty Trend: Hot Colors for Spring

There's nothing like spring for bursts of color, from those first buds of purple and yellow crocuses to the sprouts of green grass and leaves.  And makeup is just as fresh because color rocks this spring: bright blues, mossy greens, playful pinks, majestic purples, tawny tangerines…even jungle-green nails.  And while most of us drive the highway to work (not the runway!) we can still enjoy this season's hottest beauty trend.

Lip Service:  The trend this spring is bright lips:  tangerines, oranges, bronzes and reds.  Use a lip primer or concealer on lips first to neutralize the natural color of your lips then apply the color of your choice.  For daytime, keep the color muted by a quick swipe followed by sheer gloss.  Turn the look up a notch at nighttime with a more defined application.  We love Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer ($18, Sephora at Providence Place Mall) and Korres Limited Edition Mango Lip Collection ($21 for three lipsticks in this season’s hottest shades, Sephora).

The Eyes Have It:  Bright blues, greens, purples and pinks are wearable from day to night with simplicity.  If you have blue eyes, brushing a bit of blue across the lid and blending will make your eyes pop.  Line with some brown liner and smudge to get a dewy and eye-catching look.  Green and hazel eyes light up with golds and pinks and oranges.  Brown eyes are knockouts with blue and purple.  But do not let your eye color hold you back.  The key to eye color is flawless application and if you feel nervous, less is more.  A little tiny bit of color can go a long way and help you transition to a more colorful you!  To transition to a nighttime look, line eyes with black or dark blue liner, add a bit more color and voila:  instant glam!  Try Pop Eye Cakes, various color palettes ($19.50 at Sephora) or Urban Decay Show Pony Shadow Box ($30 at Sephora).

Get Cheeky:  Swipe some peach or pink blush onto the apples of the cheeks to get glowing!  Cream blushes adhere well to normal to dry skin while oily skin is better with a powder or mineral blush.  Add a bit of shimmer for nighttime to shine no matter where you go!  A must-have is Nars Orgasm Illuminator ($29 at Nordstrom) and Smashbox Paradise Blush ($24 at Sephora).

The moral of the story: You can wear color and wear it well!  Keep coming back to GoLocalProv.com for more tips and tricks in beauty!
