Bill Nye The Science Guy will be featured as part of the University of Rhode Island’s alumni and family weekend at the Ryan Center on Friday, October 20.

Tickets start at $30 for the general public and go on sale on Friday, September 8 at 10 a.m.

Bill Nye

Nye has won seven national Emmy Awards for writing, performing and producing, and his show Bill Nye the Science Guy, won 18 Emmy’s in five years.

Prior to going into comedy, Nye earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University before working in Seattle for Boeing.

Eventually, Nye quit his engineering day job and made the transition to a night job as a comedy writer and performer on Seattle’s homegrown ensemble comedy show “Almost Live” in 1986 where “Bill Nye the Science Guy” was born.

Nye has also written five children’s books about science.
