Tokyo

Looking to dive into some unique and fresh sushi and sashimi? Go to Tokyo and order the baby octopus or the Arizona roll with yellow tail and spicy mayo. Presentation is outstanding, and it’s BYOB, so make your meal a little more unique with your favorite drink. Take a seat at normal tables or get a little more authentic and sit barefoot on the floor at a shorter table. Tokyo is a convenient option for those at Brown or RISD as it is located within a mile of College Hill.

Sakura Restaurant

Head to Sakura and be sure to order the warm Miso soup coupled with one of their popular rolls. Prices are cheap for the budget-conscious college student, and it’s also BYOB. Sakura also offers floor seating for those looking to lend an authentic vibe to their meal.

Looking for an elegant dining room and dazzling presentation? Look no further than Haruki East. Order for lunch and get one of three sushi lunch specials with either a soup or salad and a combination of delicious rolls. The Wayland Maki Combo comes with a shrimp tempura roll and a California roll with a soup or salad for only $9. Head over to Haruki Express for fine take out and a walk through their selection of authentic Japanese groceries.

Enn Sushi

Get inventive at Enn Sushi with their monthly Roll Contest; if your roll wins, it’s named after you and gets a spot on the menu for a month and you get a $50 gift card. Order the lunch takeout special for a salad, drink, and any two rolls including Tuna Tempura and Spicy Salmon. If you’re looking for something different, try the Sunrise Roll with mozzarella cheese and sun-dried tomato. Wednesday is $5 glasses of wine all night, and Monday is 2 for $35, including wine or sake, and 2 soups, 2 salads, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. Bryant students are in luck – 10% off for all Bulldogs.

Kabuki

Not sure what to get? Head to Kabuki and feast your eyes on their vast menu of just about any sushi combination you can think of. Order the Angry Dragon signature roll with shrimp tempura and spicy tuna topped with Alaskan king crab or the American Dream with rock shrimp topped with spicy crab and lobster. Don’t miss karaoke on Thursdays and a live DJ Friday and Saturday nights. All late night Bento Box combos include a $5 drink. Kabuki is only a short distance down the road from URI making it a great option for sushi-craving Rams.

Tokyo House

Head on down to Newport to visit Tokyo House for a hibachi and sushi combination. Sit at a hibachi table and order a side of sushi, or vice versa. Be sure to order the tasty Kado roll with shrimp tempura and crab topped with avocado slices and spicy mayo. Toyko House periodically posts coupons to their website, so check in frequently. With a prime location in Newport, Salve and RWU students have to stop in to Tokyo House.

Mt. Fuji

Located on the edge of Federal Hill, Mt. Fuji offers a fun atmosphere with an elaborate dining room and great food. Sit at a huge hibachi table and enjoy tender filet with fried rice and veggies, or get a table in the normal dining room and feast on fabulous sushi. Pair the two experiences together; sit at a hibachi table and order sushi as an appetizer. Try the Mt. Fuji roll with tempura lobster or sit at the light up bar with 45 seats and order the Mt. Fuji cocktail. Happy hour is from 3pm-6pm every day and all dine in orders are 15% off. Tip: bring your student ID and get an automatic 10% off. Mt. Fuji’s location makes it easy for JWU and PC students to dive into some fine hibachi and sushi.

Nami

Located right on Federal Hill, Nami couples a trendy décor with great sushi and hibachi available. During the summer months, enjoy an open-air environment as Nami opens its windows to Federal Hill passersby. Order the Tuna Pancake appetizer topped with guacamole and spicy mayo for a different twist on Tuna Tartar, or the Firecracker roll with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and green apple. Despite its upscale atmosphere and décor, Nami offers delivery to the area around the city. Tip: check Groupon for Nami’s offering of $30 worth of food for only $15. Yoo Sushi

Located on the corner of Eaton Street and Douglas Avenue, Yoo Sushi is within walking distance of PC and offers fantastic sushi at great prices. Order one of the Maki Combos with a soup, salad, or soda for a filling sampling of Yoo’s sushi. Looking for a vegetarian option? Get the Vegetable Combo with a sweet potato roll, cucumber avocado roll, and peanut avocado.

Shanghai

Brown students looking for a local sushi spot within walking distance of campus should look no further than Shanghai. Order the Roll Special with soup or salad and your choice of any two or three rolls. The ginger salad dressing is the best around, and the Godzilla Roll has shrimp on the inside and salmon on the outside. Yum.
