Darrell West
Well-known to political followers in Rhode Island, West is the Vice President of Governance Studies and Founding Director of the Center for Technology Innovation at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. Prior to his tenure at the Brookings Institution, he was the John Hazen White Professor of Political Science and Public Policy and Director of the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University. He has authored or co-authored 18 books dealing with elections, media, technology and public policymaking. This is the seventh year in a row that West has offered his political commentary during the Newport Art Museum's Winter Lecture Series. During his talk on January 7, West will review the 2012 political environment and discuss the upcoming elections.
Newport Art Museum's centennial
This is the 85th annual winter speaker series at the Museum, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012. Lectures take place on Saturdays at 2 pm (weather permitting) from January 7 through February 25. Cost to attend is $10 for Museum members and $15 for non-members. Series subscribers can attend all eight lectures for $70 (members) or $105 (non-members). A reception follows each lecture.
